The highlight of the season for many a player is the yearly trip to put all we’ve learned to the test, see our pals from other international teams again, and generally act the goat for five days. (Not to mention our impressive medal hauls!)
In previous years the club has travelled to Rotterdam, Antwerp, London, Stockholm and Berlin in our quest for craic. This year, we’re headed to party capital, Amsterdam!
The Amsterdam PinkHockey Fest will run from Wednesday August 9th to Saturday August 13th at the HC Athena hockey grounds (which comes complete with a slide from the changing rooms to the pitch!) and we have all the details on registration right here for you.
The registration fee is €90 if you purchase it before April 1st, and €105 if you purchase it after April 1st. Your registration covers your entry into the competition, along with the following events:
- Wednesday 9th: Meet and Greet party in the evening
- Thursday 10th: Matches begin (lunch provided)
- Friday 11th: Matches continue (lunch provided), followed by a BBQ at the hockey club
- Saturday 12th: Finals played (lunch provided), followed by a closing party
To register or for more information, head over to Pink Hockey Amsterdam’s website.
Your committee have secured very reasonably priced accommodation just a few minutes walk from the hockey pitch, and will be in touch at a later point to update you on that. Flights should be booked for whatever dates suit you best, but we recommend flying out on the morning/afternoon of Wednesday 9th at the latest, to allow you time to get to the Meet and Greet… and flying back whenever your hangover permits on Sunday 13th/Monday 14th!
It’s time to start planning for the 2016 season! First and foremost, we have the Pink Ladies Hockey Club AGM, which will take place on Thursday 25th February, downstairs in J.W. Sweetman from 6:30PM. It is crucial to the ongoing development and success of our club that as many members as possible are in attendance on the night and have their voices heard – the more the merrier!
Having made it through preliminary rounds of judging, we’re SUPER EXCITED that this very website is now a FINALIST for ‘Best Sports Site’ at the Web Awards 2015! Here’s the full list of nominees… Looking forward to the awards ceremony on Thursday 15th October!
The most essential part of of your hockey kit is a good quality MOUTHGUARD! You’ll also receive a free protective case with your order. Here’s the full product and pricing info – if you’d like to buy, just email email@example.com for the link and promo code. PROTECT THOSE GNASHERS , LADIES!
Big new – Pink Ladies Hockey Club are nominated for the Sports Award at the 2015 GALAs LGBT Awards!
The GALAS were created in 2009 by GCN and The National Lesbian and Gay Federation “to encourage and reward those LGBT people who give of themselves for the greater good of their community, to show them that their efforts do not go unsung and that they are an incredible resource which we all value beyond measure”.
We are absolutely THRILLED with the nomination, and impossibly honoured to be residing alongside the likes Nikki Symmons and Donal Óg Cusack on the shortlist – two legendary athletes who’ve inspired us all.
Roll on the awards ceremony in The Shelbourne Hotel on Friday 6th March – tickets are available HERE!
It’s time for the annual Pink Ladies Hockey Club table quiz fundraiser!
We’ll be returning to our adopted club-house, The Front Lounge, on Wednesday 18th June at 8:00PM for an evening of trivia and divilment…

Let us know if you’re coming along and get the trash-talking started on the Facebook event page!
There’ll also be a raffle on the night with some super treats up for grabs, PLUS a very special additional draw for the hockey players amongst the crowd… more details on that soon!
First – a bit of background info… Green Ribbon Month offers a chance to get talking about mental health. See Change, the organisation behind it, aim to change minds about mental health one conversation at a time – so, wearing a green ribbon shows both your support for the campaign and indicates to those around you that you are part of this movement. Now in its second year, Green Ribbon Month has a huge amount of events taking place across the country.
On Wednesday 21st May DLL and GNI’s Green Ribbon Series will tackle the topic of the benefits of exercise on mental health with GOOD MOOD MOVES. Taking place in Outhouse on Capel Street and kicking off at 7:00PM, this FREE event promises a relaxed space for people to chat about exercise, without feeling pressured or judged. Some Pink Ladies will be on hand to talk about the Club and their own experiences!
